How coded magnets work

A coded (programmable) magnet has many small magnetic regions — maxels, or magnetic pixels — printed across its face in a designed pattern. That pattern is what gives it its behavior: where it grips, where it releases, and how it aligns. It's the programmable-magnet technology pioneered as Polymagnet by Correlated Magnetics Research. Want to see it in motion? Watch real align, latch, and spring demos on our videos page.

Need an actual part, not just an explanation?

The catalogue is sorted by what the magnet has to do — hold, align, latch, turn, resist a sideways pull — because that is what you know when you start looking. If nothing there fits, describe the job and we will tell you honestly whether it can be done.
